Sugar acts on the human brain in a similar way to many street drugs. Therefore, when you stop consuming sugar, you may enter withdrawal and experience some mental and physical symptoms.
Physical: Mental:
- light-headedness/dizziness. - depression
- nausea. - anxiety
- tingling - changes in sleep patterns
- fatigue - cognitive/concentration problems
- muscle cramps. - cravings (sugar, carbs - bread, pasta)
- bad breath - brain fog
- weakness
- constipation/diarrhea
Many people report feeling the worst in the first couple of days - stick to it! Most symptoms should be gone in about 10 days. That seems like a long time but you'll start to notice the differences in less than that!
